Will your parents allow you to do odd jobs, at a level which lets you maintain your grades and such and doesn’t take any more hours per week than you want it to take? There are jobs I’d pay an enterprising teen who came to my door or left a flier. Some require a little know-how or some supplies, but mostly they’re a matter of elbow grease, making the time, or just doing a job that can always wait when I’m doing it.
Since many involve being inside the house, you’d want to offer recommendations or references, give interviews, even offer meetings with your parents there to assure your potential customer you’re trustworthy and know what you’re doing.
Consider:
–clean my paintbrushes’ bristles, priced per brush (Soak in paint remover, scrub and comb out loosened paint, rinse, allow to air dry with bristles straight)
–empty the fridge, wipe off all the shelves, and put everything back that’s not moldy
–clean the oven
–clean the charcoal or gas grill’s cooking surface
–rip CDs to the computer, priced per CD (Many adults don’t have time or don’t know how)
–scan photographs into the computer from old albums
–address the envelopes of my 2009 Christmas cards, priced per card
–supervise my kids at the park or playground while I read or chat with friends
–wash and wax my kitchen floor–please!
–organize the kitchen drawers, or cupboards, or pantry
–clean and polish all the leather shoes in the house
–scrub the kids’ bathroom
–empty the linen closet, put sets of sheets and towels together again, and restock it
–take a load of my laundry (which I sorted for items which can be washed and dried together) to your house, wash it, dry it, fold it, return it
–polish my silver trays and bowls the week before Christmas
–take down my Christmas tree, stowing the decorations neatly
