i was falsely accused of shoplifting at a store. i was offered $1000. could i get more money? i’ve heard you could get $5000 at the min.

   If you have been offered $1000, then I would expect $2000 at the very most. There is no “typical” example and you could end up with nothing.

   I would take the money and run..
   If you get a lawyer– it would be tied up in the courts for for A YEAR or YEARS and by the time you are done— the lawyer takes most of it.

   THere is no standard – you can be compensated as much as you were financially damaged, which I’m guessing isn’t much.
   Get a damn job and stop trying to screw other people out of money.
