You don't actually need a lot unless you want to live it up. Find a student "Pension" in a back street, a few euros a night, rather than a smart hotel. Buy your bus tickets in a book (carnet) before boarding, don't forget to validate them when you get on the bus/metro or you get fined.
The nearer the bar you eat/drink the cheaper, if you sit at a cafe table outside you pay a premium. If you want a beer ask for a "pression", if you order a "beer" it will come in a bottle and be more expensive than the draft version.
Follow the local police into restaurants or cafes, they know the best places for quality and value. NEVER eat where the menu is in English you are asking to pay tourist prices.
Loads of museums and galleries are free, some only on certain days and times, but even in this glamorous city you can live well on 60 euros a day.
